Apartment living absolutely has its perks, especially in today’s economy. With lower expenses, little to no maintenance, extra safety, ample amenities, and flexibility—it is not hard to see why most people are opting for an apartment instead of a house or mobile home. Nevertheless, finding the right apartment in a great city can be challenging. So, what can you do to narrow down your options while simultaneously moving to the city of your dreams? Well, there are actually a few things you can do.

For starters, it helps to create a checklist. This list should take into account your overall budget, ideal amenities, desired communal setting, and your layout preferences. Once you have figured those things out, you should focus on the particular area or city you would like to move to and get to work. Remember, the goal is to direct your search in such a way that you can easily pick out the apartment home that is best for you. Of course, if you are short on time, we can help take out some of the guesswork. Here is a quick synopsis of the Farmington Hills area and its top five apartment complexes.

    The Area of Farmington Hills

Before getting into these amazing apartment options, let’s get a feel for your future city. Farmington Hills is a great place to live for a variety of reasons. For one, it is conveniently located near the majority of Metro-Detroit freeways (I-75, I-696, M-10, M-5, US-23, and I-275). Thus, getting to work and around Metro-Detroit will be a breeze.

Besides having a prime location, Farmington Hills has a wealth of shopping centers, restaurants, high-end shops, entertainment options, and seemingly limitless recreation (sports, outdoor, fitness, etc.). Farmington Hills Public Schools are also highly regarded, and there are several nearby colleges.

As you can see, there really are no downsides to moving into an apartment home in this area. Therefore, without further ado—here are the top five apartments for rent in Farmington Hills, from least to greatest.

    1. Maple Ridge Apartments

Number five on the list is Maple Ridge Apartments. This apartment complex is located in Farmington Hills, just off of Middlebelt Road. Here you will find both relatively affordable one and two-bed units with a max of 850 square feet of living space.

In terms of utilities, residents do not have to pay for water. What’s more, communal amenities at Maple Ridge are amenable and include kitchen appliances, spacious balconies, rentable storage spaces, high-speed internet, open parking, and air conditioning. For many, being able to rent a nice one-bed for $600 a month, or two-bed for $700 a month, in this area makes up for the so-so amenities.

Moreover, the community setting is a friendly one, with a helpful management team. Thus, according to Google Reviews, Maple Ridge gets 2.8 out of 5 stars, and we agree.

    1. Farmington Manor Apartments

Farmington Manor Apartments comes in second to last on our top five list. Here you will find one-bedroom units with 720 square feet of living space for $600 a month. Plus, water and trash removal are included.

Located on 9 mile Road, this complex is actually near the Farmington Hills/Farmington border. Thus, you can have access to both cities’ public schools. Communal amenities at Farmington Manor are decent with onsite laundry facilities, storage space, heat, and kitchen appliances.

Additionally, all units have a similar open layout, living area carpeting, a designated parking space, and they allow pets (breed restrictions for dogs). The general community vibe here is welcoming, the management team is supportive, and Farmington Manor received 3.1 out of 5 stars on Google. Overall, these apartments are a good choice for young professionals, retirees, and growing families.

    1. Village Oaks Apartments

Number three on the list is Village Oaks Apartments. This Farmington Hills apartment community is in the center of it all on Orchard Lake Road. There are both one and two-bedroom units with at least 700 square feet of living space. These apartments offer a slightly more modern feel and have nice communal amenities. A few notable features include high-speed internet access, ceiling fans, newer tub/showers, air conditioning, walk-in closets, and more.

A standard unit at Village Oaks has an open layout, a dining room, a modern kitchen with appliances included, and has controlled access for extra security. One-bedroom units are currently $870, and two bedrooms are $970 (both have trash removal included). Each apartment home has a designated parking space, and the property management team is onsite.

Village Oaks also allows pets; however, there is a somewhat strict pet policy and pet rent. All in all, reviewers on Google give them 3.2 out of 5 stars.

    1. Lakeview Apartments of Farmington Hills

The runner up is none other than Lakeview Apartments of Farmington Hills. This enticing apartment complex is located on Middlebelt Road and offers a variety of one and two-bedroom unit layouts. These units have anywhere from 640 to 780 square feet of living space and range from $875 to $1,075 a month. There is also assigned covered parking, a reasonable pet policy, onsite laundry, a pond, a pool, and a walking/biking trail. Here, the overall community setting feels lively and contemporary. Lakeview’s Google rating is 3.6 out of 5 stars.
